Motivated Action in Learning Fractions with Digital Tools

The frACTIONs project investigates how digital learning environments—particularly an electronic textbook for learning fractions—affect students’ motivation, emotions, and learning outcomes. The aim is to better understand the mechanisms through which interactive, adaptive, and feedback-based learning tools support learning. A central focus is on mediation effects: that is, whether and how motivation and emotional engagement mediate the positive impact of digital tools on learning success. The studies show that digital learning environments increase learners’ motivation and activity, thereby contributing to improved learning outcomes.
